Instructor: Richard Zanibbi, Office hours: 2-3:50pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 70-3551 (Golisano College)
Lectures: 10-11:50am Tuesdays and Thursdays, Room 70-2590 (Golisano College)
Weight: 20% of final grade
Students will give presentations in groups of three, and each group will give three presentations during the quarter. Presentations should be at most fifty minutes long, including questions. As this is a seminar course, your group should be prepared to answer questions during the presentation as well as at the end (time permitting). All students in the group must contribute to both the preparation and presentation of the seminar.
After presenting, each group must submit copies of slides and notes (as .pdf files), links to presented research papers, and other materials to the instructor before the start of the next class. This will give each group an opportunity to make additions/revisions to their seminar materials before they are posted on the course web page.
The breakdown for each seminar presentation grade is as follows:
Each presentation will have equal weight within the 20% allotted for presentations in the final grade (e.g. for three presentations, each presentation would count as 6.67% of the final grade).
Students are expected to consult additional textbook and/or peer-reviewed paper sources in addition to the course text when preparing seminars. In addition, the inclusion of some material (e.g. 1-2 papers) on current research in the topic presented will result in a grade bonus (up to a maximum 10%).
After each seminar class, students are required to submit brief evaluations for each presentation by email to the instructor using the template below. The instructor will send anonymous compilations of submitted evaluations to the groups evaluated. Presenters are not required to provide self-evaluations, but for other students missing evaluations will result in a grade penalty.
