About Project

Been Set Free is a dance interpretation of the Peter Himmelman song (from his 1994 LP Skin) and is a fully realized example of Virtual Theatre: live performance, realized on a virtual stage with participants in different physical locations. In this performamce, we present a dancing avatar, whose motions were guided by a live performer outfitted with a full body motion capture system. Audience members watched the avatar perform on the virtual stage immersively using head mounted displays.
