I'd like to help a $6$ year old who already has a pretty good grasp of $2$, $5$, and $10$ times tables.

I'm worried about education questions. Generally speaking, they are really hard to answer. Most of the answers you'll get are probably going to be of the form "what I was taught..." or "what I'm teaching my kids...." Ideally, you'd want an answer that has an actual scientific study to back it up, but those are going to be hard to find and maybe this isn't the best place to ask someone to find them. (I could be wrong, of course. It would be great if we had some education experts here.)2010-07-29

First of all, give your child a head start by not using terms like "times tables" and "take-away". Use the proper terminology such as "multiplication" and "subtraction". And please don't use "guzzinta".2010-07-30
